As of January 1st, 2018, the Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury, at 19 Frood Rd, as the LEAD agency of the Homelessness Network for the City of Greater Sudbury, will be the new Intake Agency and new service center site for the below-named programs, previously coordinated through the Canadian Red Cross.
- Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI)
- Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)
- Low-Income Energy Assistance Plan (LEAP)
- Weekly Housing List/Registry
The Community Homeless Prevention initiative (CHPI), Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP), and Low-Income Energy Assistance Plan (LEAP) are community initiatives that provide financial assistance to help individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. In cases of emergency, financial assistance is provided to eligible clients as a last resort to prevent evictions, utility disconnection and to secure permanent housing. Persons must apply for the assistance and provide required documentation in order to determine eligibility for financial assistance.
The Weekly Housing List is provided for the whole community and offers an updated list of available rentals each week. The list is usually distributed through multiple agencies in the area every Wednesday and is available for free.
